A tummy tuck looks great in a Mommy Makeover.
Abdominoplasty is a procedure that removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the abdomen, as well as tightening of the muscles in the abdomen. Ideal candidates are those who have a weakened abdominal wall from significant weight loss or pregnancy resulting in redundant skin.
The procedure involves making an incision just above the pubic area from hip to hip removing the loose skin (and stretch marks) and fat. The musculature is tightened resulting in a narrower waistline. As a result, the abdomen created is smoother, tighter, and flatter.
Some of the risks to be considered are scarring, infection, and bleeding. Recovery is usually within the first 2-3 weeks when patients can return to gentle normal activity, though permanent, results often take up to several months. Other options may include a mini-abdominoplasty or liposuction to the abdomen. Ultimately, the abdomen results in a slender more youthful appearance.
