Brazilian Butt Lift
A Brazilian Butt Lift, butt augmentation or gluteoplasty, all usually refer to the same procedure. There are two specific remedies for buttock augmentation. One involves liposucting fat out of other areas of the body and moving it to reshape the buttock to a new desired look. The other involves surgically inserting artificial implants into the buttocks to change it’s size and shape.
People seeking this type of aesthetic surgery are typically women who are dissatisfied with the size of their rear end or want to greatly enhance their buttocks modeled after famous women with large and voluptuous posteriors.
The buttock is made up of the largest muscle in the body, the Gluteus Maximus, combined with fat and skin supported by its underlying skeletal frame. The buttock shape and contour is highly dependent upon a person’s body structure, with the main volume coming from fat.
One of the benefits of using transplanted fat for a Brazilian butt lift, is that it offers the plastic surgeon the ability to remove unwanted fat while contouring and reshaping areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs and lower back, before transplanting it around the defining areas of the buttocks to give it it’s new appearance. Since the body is reusing it’s own tissue, there is less risk of rejection or complications that can arise as a result of using artificial implants or foreign substances.

Brazilian Buttock lifts are increasingly becoming more popular as women look to enhance their rear with fat used from other parts of their body.
In some cases a local anesthesia can be used along with a sedative. However, a general anesthesia is preferred. Anesthesia is usually discussed with your plastic surgeon during your consultation prior to having your procedure done.
Recovering from a Brazilian Butt Lift is usually mild in comparison to other aesthetic surgeries. Typically there is very little pain in the buttock area, however, someone will usually experience minor discomfort as a result of the liposuction that was used to extract the fat from other areas of the body. Full recovery requires several weeks, where it will be extremely critical to follow the doctor’s post-op instructions carefully until the lift has properly healed.
