A recent report published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and detailed on Fox News, has shown some rather interesting trends with an overall decrease in breast augmentations and an increase in buttock lifts.
According to the ASPS report, buttock implants and lifts, to emphasize the derriére, have had the speediest increase in overall procedures done in 2014. Buttock augmentation with fat grafting rose by more than 15 percent from 2013 with over 11,505 procedures done. Buttock implants rose by almost 98 percent for the same year, with 1,863 procedures performed, and buttock lifts rose by 44 percent to 3,505 procedures performed.
What is fueling this trend? No one knows for certain. However, with celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce flaunting their rather large back-sides may have something to do with it, along with a greater influence of sub-cultures upon mainstream society.
There are several options to increase the size and lift of the buttocks, including:
Brazilian Butt Lift – which can include a combination of liposuction, fat transfers, from other parts of the body, to the buttock or using injections of some kind – though this is not considered the best option and may pose risks for the patient over time.
Butt Augmentation with Implants – Buttock augmentation with implants works very similarly to breast augmentation with implants. The plastic surgeon will surgically place a silicone implant in the cheeks of the buttocks. This can immediately and dramatically impact the appearance of the buttocks by using implants instead of fat transfer or injections. However, they are not without their problems either and are susceptible to implant shifting as shown in this video.
