People with double chins often are very self-conscious of how they look on camera and take care to hide their appearance. Treatments to remove a double chin typically required a combination of several treatments, including:
- Laser Skin Tightening
- Chin Augmentation
A new biopharmaceuticals company, Kythera, has been developing a new injectable treatment that offers promise to remove people’s double chin by working on the fat itself. That product is known as ATX-101. It is the first injectable drug, in it’s clinical development, that has been shown to significantly reduce submental fat, which is present in a “Double Chin.”
The injectable drug is a proprietary synthetic combination that promotes the breakdown of the fat in which it comes in contact with. Studies have shown that this drug, when injected subcutaneously into specific fat deposits, reduces that fat while leaving the surrounding tissue generally unaffected.
