“A Nurse’s Story”
My name is Mary Jones and this is my story. I am 55 years old, and I have battled with my weight almost all of my life. Recently, I was able to lose a total of 70 lbs, which I have kept off for 16 years. I finally felt it was time to fix my body. I’ve been a nurse for 29 years, and I started working for a plastic surgeon when I lived in Michigan. Working in this profession really motivated me to start losing weight. At first, I lost about 30 lbs and started feeling really good about myself. Around that time, I moved to California and continued working as a nurse in the operating room at a local hospital. One day while I was working, I started feeling hip pain. I decided to see a doctor, and he told me that if I lost weight, the pain would go away. I started weight watchers the very next day, and I started losing weight. The weight came off slowly, but I finally lost a total of 70 lbs.
After 27 years of marriage, I was facing a divorce…I hit a low in my life. I realized I needed to stop thinking of everyone else and needed to start thinking of myself. It took me a long time to decide I need to take care of me. I found it difficult to spend money for plastic surgery, but after a lot of thought, I decided to go for it. I did a lot of research, and I decided to have Dr. Edward Park perform my surgeries. I have seen good plastic surgery and results that were not very desirable in my many years of working in surgery. Dr Park’s skills as a plastic surgeon are one of the best I have ever seen. Dr Park really listens to his patients when it comes to the results you’re personally looking for. He offers suggestions, but really listens to you so you get the results that you want. I feel that is one of the reasons he is truly a remarkable plastic surgeon. Dr Park’s staff is very warm and welcoming, and you feel like you have known them all your life.
My first surgery was scheduled in October 2010 which consisted of the Natural Uplift for the face and neck, upper blepharoplasty, laser around the eyes and mouth, a tummy tuck and a breast lift! My second surgery was around 3 weeks later and consisted of an arm and thigh lift. Dr. Park and his staff were amazing! They treated me like family, and were so knowledgeable and helpful throughout my entire recovery process. I would recommend Dr. Park to anyone that is thinking about having plastic surgery.

“A Surrogate Mother’s Story”
My name is Karie and this is my story. I am a 30-year-old stay at home mom, which I find very rewarding. I have been married to my best friend for 10 years and we have three boys 8,7,and 4. After getting married I was told I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant, but after several tries we got pregnant with our first son, then our second and third came along.
A few years ago my husband lost his job. Due to our financial responsibility I decided to become a surrogate mom. We really felt that this was something we could do to give back for the blessing we have received with our children. We could really help other couples that could not conceive. My first pregnancy went very well and after my first sonogram they told us we were having twins…born March 23, 2010. The experience was so rewarding that we decided to do the surrogacy one more time and again we had twins…born July 19, 2011. Both set of twins were delivered by c-section.
After 5 pregnancies my body was not the same. I talked to a friend who had had plastic surgery by Dr. Park, she told me he was a great surgeon and did a great job on her, so I scheduled a consultation. Dr. Park and his staff were very comforting during my consultation. After talking to my husband we decided to go ahead and book a mommy makeover. (Tummy and Breast). My surgery with Dr. Park and his staff was a wonderful experience; they treat me like I was one of their family members. Today I feel great and my body looks like it did before all of my pregnancies. I write this letter in deep appreciation for the gift you have given me…the freedom of comfort and self-esteem. I know that it’s difficult for many to understand the motivation that brings a person to surgically alter one’s appearance. The choice is often equated simply to vanity. But truly, for some of us, it is more the need to feel at peace with one’s own body… To wake up in the morning and feel satisfaction when looking at one’s self full in the mirror… to not be forced to choose clothing or makeup that covers up those particular flaws that cause us discomfort or embarrassment.
For me, it was not a matter of not liking myself, nor having difficulty perceiving myself as an attractive individual. I’ve always been able to appreciate the person that I am because I know that my compassion, honesty and perseverence are the most important components of my person. It was more a matter of not wanting to expend energy or feel unhappy about physical flaws that I could not affect with diet and exercise.
After having given birth to four children, my bustline, tummy and backside were a mess. After having raised them, my undereyes had bags and deep circles.. (from peeking out windows at all hours, do you think?) So… I, with hope and hearty recommendations, went to your office.
My life has not been the same since. My tummy was tucked, my backside lightened with liposuction, my eye bags removed, and my bustline – along with my spirit – lifted. I felt so fabulous that I had a skin peel and lip implants done as well. The compassion and care of your whole office alleviated any fears or misgivings I may have felt. And, I would like to mention that, at age 40, not only do I feel fabulous, I’ve been encouraged to begin a modeling career… I’m positive that how I feel about myself, not just how I look, has a lot to do with the success I’m having in my new endeavor.
